ABOUT HEATHER
I help people integrate.
After a plant medicine ceremony, a major life change, or years of disconnection, the mind and body may finally begin speaking to each other. Old patterns loosen, but the time after a breakthrough can feel difficult to navigate alone.
That's where I come in.
I'm Heather Sager, a licensed massage therapist, movement educator, and longtime fitness professional. My work with movement began in high school at the YMCA, where I taught members to use weight equipment. I later became a personal trainer and group exercise instructor, teaching Zumba, Pilates, circuit and HIIT, SilverSneakers, youth functional training, kickboxing, and dance aerobics.
Moreover, as a massage therapy teacher, author, and nationally certified continuing education provider, I've taught and learned from therapists throughout the United States. Teaching has provided me with in-depth understanding of muscle origins, insertions, and actions. I've delved into post-isometric relaxation and reciprocal inhibition, and recognize the difference between postural and phasic muscles.
Decades of hands-on practice have taught me to recognize protective holding patterns, tissue memory, and the emotional release that can occur when the body feels safe enough to let go. I bring that full background into functional mobility and somatic integration—helping people build useful strength, move with greater freedom, and reconnect with the wisdom of their bodies.
Whether your change began through plant medicine or ordinary life, this work helps insight become embodied, practical change.
Limiting beliefs can actually show up in joint restriction, disease, and chronic pain. Old programming and energetic patterns that keep you stuck in the same loop, require the right container. The cultural norm of talking and staying locked into thinking mode is de-emphasized, here. (Our brains shift through different waves for a reason: we aren't built to run on high-frequency alert all the time. We need the slower depths of theta and delta to reset). My aim is to get to the root of issues and provide relief for each individual client. I help the inside catch up to the outside - as insight slowly becomes evident through our behavior. My aim is to help you stay integrated and aligned, not just inspired.
I also co-facilitate plant medicine retreats in Ecuador alongside my colleague Deanna Moore, so if you're looking for a plant medicine ceremony itself, perhaps even for the first time, I encourage you to welcome the unknown with open arms. It can really improve your life. Mother Nature provides what we need in wonderful ways.
